Threaded pipe cap is forged pipe fitting, it has female threads and connects with pipes with male threads. The main function of pipe cap is to block off or seal the end of a pipeline and stop the flow.

Thread Type of Threaded Pipe Fittings
 
The most common types are NPT, BSPP, BSPT.
NPT pipe cap is National Pipe Thread Tapered type with 60 degree thread angle.
BSPP pipe cap is British standard threaded fittings with parallel thread and 55 degree thread angle.
BPPT is British standard tapered thread fitting with 55 degree thread angle.
